Did you know that "kübelwagen" did not start out on the VW? "Kübelwagen" comes from "Kübelsitzewagen" that can be translated to "bucketseatcar", and was used on all types of small vehicles that was without doors. Because of the doors missing, it was needed seats that supported the driver and passengers so they would not slide out of the car.

That is true Rolf, I once talked with a German Army veteran and he told me that during the war they called the Type 82 simply the "VW" and never Kübelwagen like we always do.

And the "Kübelwagen" has never been a "kübelsitzewagen" since it never was made with out doors and with bucket seats.....
