1st of all, evening everybody, this is my first post of any kind. Iam not great with pc's so please bear with me if this comes out all wrong! I have just purchased (well, swapped in fact!) a type 82 Kubelwagen as I have been searching for a number of years for a suitable one. My Interest stems from my Father, who has collected 2nd world war vehicles for nigh on 50 years. I always remeber his type 82 with fondness! My vehicle has been standing for 15 years & was owned by a company who hired out it out for films for many years, the last film it was on was Indiana Jones & the last crusade I believe. They purchased is from the British army who had it for evaluation tests after the war. It was then painted & displayed in a small museum for a period of time. I intend to use it this summer for rallies/meets etc & then restore it properly over the winter months. Any useful comments would be most welcome as I hope to find out a lot more useful information! I know its by no means perfect yet, but the panels are all original & has no rust issues, also the engine is a original one, not from a later model. Here we go & thanks for reading! s1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff478/dennisbcarney/

Ok, a little update, the information came through this morning from the VW Wolfsburg museum. Date of manufacture is 20th May 1944, where is was delivered to the Army ordance corps in Kassel, Germany. Does anyone know what types of markings it should have, I cant find any under the paint. It turns out the engine is not original! Just waiting for the registration plate to come through now. Also found out the front suspension needs fixing as has collapsed, anyone know where I can get parts quick? Its the bottom arm of the front axle, rotted through & cant be repaired, the one that attaches to the wheel hub.

Hi Dennisbcarney congrats on your new kubel , On the schwimmwagen site,www.vw166.com there is a guy selling acompleat front axel but hes in italy , about 5 pages in in the parts for sale, worth checking out (never have too many spare parts Only other thing is if you have any contact with any vw guys with vintage stuff . There is a thing they do where you use an early sixties axel and they turn it up side down with sway away adjusters .It looks and works the same as original. This if you can get it done would see you through the summer months" while you locate what you need. In the mean time i will keep an eye out for you for the parts ,and im just thinking i think volks world did an artickle on that axel thing ill check some of my mags and let you know regards for now leo.
