We are two Kettenkrad owners in Norway with identical marking on the side of our vehicles. However, we need help identifying this unit! Anyone??? Thanks, Erik and Steinar

Could it be, a Leichte Haubitzbatterie Motorisiert Gezogen , light howitzerbattery motorized drawn ? But wich one ??
Arent there any numbers visible ?
The howitzersign is actually horizontal between the vertical lines , on your KK's its sloping , couldn't find that !!

Hi erik , steinar and hans ofcourse!
hans is right that it has something to do with towed guns of some sort, but the middle sign is puzzeling, it could be the sign of the 19 th panzer division but then it is turned 90 degrees?? Don't exactly know if they were in the northern region ??
regards, Roberto

Hi,
this is definitely a motorised artillery tactical sign, the line between the two small vertical lines is almost sure to be horizontal, a diagonal line makes no sense.
Its been painted twice, first in yellow and second time in white, the two signs look almost identical, maybe it happened when the Kettenkrad was repainted at some time.

Hi paul , don't think so , on another KK its the same and original ! Why should they put it the same on several KK's . Could it be those Germans tricked us 60 years ago , put a non existing ( its not in all the books i have anyway) sign on vehicles and let us crack our minds over it ;D. It wouldn't be that simple that the middle piece is a N from Norway ?? Hans.

Hi Hans,
Ok, definitely a diagonal, but put it down as a slight variation to the standard artillery sign, for sure not 19th Pz, never near Norway, but also it would be very unusual to have a mixture of a tactical sign and a divisional sign together.

Hello Hans, many years ago I saw an original KK body for sale, it also had two almost identcal tactical and divisional insignia painted one on top of the other. The reason on this case was the first set of insignia was painted on the original KK colour of dunkelgrau and then when the KK was repainted dunkelgelb, of course all the insignia had to be added again.
cheers PAUL

Thanks for all inputs! By the way, nice photo you have from my KK Hans! However, both KK's have markings as shown in the drawing, and its definitely not an artillery tactical sign. Its not likely that Wehrmacht allowed individuall variations on the tactical marking. Keep on looking! All ideas are very welcome!!

What do you think it is then , it looks basically as an artillerysign , only the diagonal line disturbs it. If it where on 1 KK only you could be shure , but its on several !! Well , who knows , there must be someone who can clearify this problem . Hans.

The Diagonal line totally disturbes it. So does the vertical center-line that is attached to the horizontal top-line. It should not. Then again, the circles should be open, not filled..... Besides, did they also make the tactical signs in yellow? 2. SS-Pz.div. "Das Reich" had something similar, without the horizontal bar..... Its definitely not them, but though... www.wwiidaybyday.com/

Hi Erik , you must be correct it's not a tactical sign , those are on the front and back of a vehicle , hardly ever on the sides !! Hans.
