Hi Sigve ,
they are for "Schpritzkannen" ,little press cans for petrol and oil. They are on several vehicles. The placement off the holders is wrong tough , they should be on the inside of the right front mudguard ( normally !!) . The big oilcanholder isn't standar issue either .

Hans, This is an early 3-tonner. Could this be an civilian model or are there other possibilities? Tried to locate the frame number according to posts above, but without any luck Sigve

Hi Sigve ,
could very well be a civilian Blitz , than its very logical they didn't put the canholders on their normal place .
However if i look at the chassis it isn't a very early one ! The early chassis have longer crossbeams ( or the ones on your chassis have been cut , also possible ) , so if i see it right it should be a post '41 chassis. Only proof tough is a chassisnumber , it can be hard to find but it should be on the right (passengerside) side to the front off the chassis.
Hans.

Hans, Thanks for the info. You might be right regarding the model. I only have the axle's to support my theory here. Probably need some coaching on this Have not been lucky in finding the chassis nr ye. If we are unlucky it might be rusted away: Sigve

Hello!
Inside the engine compartment of the Opel Blitz, on the right side of the of the firewall, near the engine is a holder for an oil can.
Some time ago a had a picture, but unfortunately it is gone sine I replaced my PC with new one time time ago.
Does anyone have a picture showing the oil can in place?
Many Thanks in advance!
Best Regards Guenter
